04 Dec 2020 EDAFOTEC supports the World Soil Day
EDAFOTEC supports the initiative of the FAO in the celebration of World Soil Day. World Soil Day (WSD) is annually celebrated on 5 December since 2014, when the UN designated this date at the proposal of the FAO one year ago.
The origins of the idea go back to 2002 thanks to the encouragement of the International Union of Soil Science (IUSS), which proposed this event within the framework of the World Soil Alliance, a collaborative forum that arose from the need to share sustainable experiences in order to recover a soil that we thought was an infinite resource.
The aim of this event is to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining healthy ecosystems that guarantee human well-being with efficient soil management.
We must keep in mind that the soil is a living resource that is home to more than 25% of the biodiversity of our planet and only 1% of the species of soil microorganisms are currently known compared to 80% of plant species.
Since its foundation, EDAFOTEC’s main objective has been to use solutions that respect the natural processes of the soil and the organisms it contains, promoting the environmental awareness of customers and local communities on this issue.
