Soil survey at a uranium mine (Spain)

Soil study at the Saelices de los Gallegos uranium mine (Salamanca)

The project, commissioned by Maxam Environment, investigated the soil characteristics of the polygon where the uranium mine was located, property of ENUSA, which is closed for exploitation during the year 2000.

The baseline conditions of the natural geological conditions were analysed, as well as the characteristics of the environment affected by the exploratory works. This information would be used to design the most suitable artificial soils which would be adapted to the environment, with a view to the restoring the area.
