Sampling and characterisation of the old mining area (Spain)

The scientific and technical proposal was made at the request of the mining company Los Frailes S.L., to respond to the needs of the mine restoration project, in the Aználcollar mining area.

In the first phase, a study of the existing documentation was carried out, followed by extensive sampling, which enabled the geochemical characterisation of the soils and waters present in open-pits, tailings, mining deposits and polluted soils and waters.

This was followed by the identification and characterisation of materials that could potentially be used in the elaboration of the Tecnosoils required for carrying out the restoration of affected areas.
