Research and development, our raison d’être

All our projects are bespoke solutions and have an element of innovation, whether in terms of internal development, or in collaboration with other agents.

We respond to calls for tenders, both Spanish and European, to finance those projects that are further from the market

Our annual expenditure on R+D+i is higher than 20%, and 10% of our total costs are collaboration contracts with Public Research Organizations.

Consortiums

The European Innovation Consortium (EIP) is included in the European innovation Programme H2020 framework, and aims to establish relevant networks among agents from different countries. These entities may then participate in joint research projects, while also being recognised as benchmarks by the Commission in the preparation of calls for programmes, and other related activities within their field.

Edafotec currently participates in two consortia:

  • EIP C & D-WRAM. It works on a new CDW (Construction and Demolition Waste) management model for a circular supply chain, integrating innovative solutions that allow for better raw material recovery.
  • EIP pHMine focuses on the design of solutions to reduce the environmental impact of effluents, waste and soil diseases derived from metal mining activities. Its main objective is to analyse current remediation methods following extraction activities and metal ore processing, along with options for their improvement through one or more strategies that consider adding magnesium hydroxide as an alkalizing agent to stabilize the pH. The re-use of the magnesium by-products will solve environmental issues and increase the sustainability of the process.
